A picture of me taken at age 4. Yes, that is a real lion cub I am holding.
It has since been pointed out to me by many wildlife professionals that this is a really bad idea. The underlying issue is that many of these outfits that acquire cubs do not take care of them. The end result is that the cats develop health problems. Also, once the cat reaches a certain age, it is no longer desirable for picture taking (plus it consumes much more food) and is um, discarded.

Wildlife "Pros" don't tell all the truth
It is true that there are some unscrupulous people out there that use cubs for picture taking, and then discard them. However, there are many that may do this, and then actually use the money raised to care for the cat in adulthood. A friend of mine and I are getting a cat that had been used for photo-ops, but has aged out at 3 months (USDA regulation). We plan to keep her for her natural life, and have come up with a contingency plan if something happens to either one of us.
